Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers says he could understand why Harry Maguire left the team to join Manchester United in the summer.
United signed Maguire for #80m – a world-record fee for a guardian.
The former Liverpool boss stated his former club and United have a exceptional appeal.
“They [Liverpool and United] would be the two largest clubs in the country. There are other great and large clubs but those two are above everyone else,” he said.
“When players get the opportunity to visit one of those clubs and to experience that kind of tension and anticipation – and of course there will be a monetary side to it as well, where you could proceed and double your wages – then that package, at a quick career and at Harry’s era, is possibly too tough to come.
“And I know that – I get it.”
Regardless of Maguire’s exit, the Foxes have been guided by Rodgers to third in the Premier League following an unbeaten start to the effort and he thinks they can start to challenge the huge nightclubs’ dominance.
“I have been fortunate enough with at Liverpool, and I know the draw that kind of club has,” Rodgers continued.
“What we’re building here at Leicester is exciting, using the brand new training ground and the way we are trying to progress on the field, but also for lots of gamers that draw remains there and I understand it.”
Leicester travel to Old Trafford to face United in the Premier League on Saturday and now Rodgers is aware of the job his side faces despite their better start .
Rodgers added:”They [United] might not have achieved what they’d have enjoyed over the last few years but it’s still an extremely difficult place to go and I am aware that Leicester haven’t won at Old Trafford in 21 years.”
